Herbarium tours are available during our normal operating hours as part of our educational outreach mission. Tours typically last 30 minutes and are flexible to meet the interests and needs of the group.
We are particularly interested in giving tours to local school groups of any age. Contact the Herbarium Curator to schedule a tour.

Public Lectures
The Herbarium Director, Dr. Cassandra Quave, is available to give engaging public lectures on GEO activities, such as research on medicinal plants, wild edible plants, and more. These lectures are typically 1 hour in length and require the use of a computer projector.
These lectures help to expand public awareness and appreciation of botany in our daily lives, and target audiences of K-12 schools, garden clubs, nature clubs, etc.
Examples of Dr. Quave's lectures include:
- A Science Cafe lecture, “Medicines From Nature: Adventures of a Medical Ethnobotanist”, hosted at the Atlanta Botanical Garden in 2014.
- A presentation, “Deadly Cures: Medical Discoveries from Poisonous Plants” at the Fernbank Museum of Natural History. in 2015.
